What's in a name?

There is a guy that lives down the street from me with the last name of Raper. Growing up we went to school together, I was a few grades older. He seems like a personable enough guy, but he lives alone and has pretty much a dead end job at a local dollar store. I just wonder sometimes if he was ever held back by his last name. I know the correct term for a person that rapes somebody is rapist and not raper, but that didn't seem to matter to the kids when we were in school and the jokes were made. Do y'all think that a person's name can hold them back in life whether it be socially or financially?
