What's going on with Amazon Prime shipping - Limits on 2-day shipping, Add-ons?

Many things that I got free 2 day shipping on in the past are no longer available for free shipping unless my order is over $35.

And certain items only qualify as an 'Add-On' item and will only ship with orders over $25. They will not sell you the product unless your order is >$25. - This iPhone 6s Plus screen protector for example

This has started to drive me away from Amazon. For my last two iPhone cases and screen protectors, I ended up buying them from Monoprice. In the past I would not have looked at any other place other than Amazon to buy these items. If this gets worse, I don't see myself paying $99 for Prime going forward.

I bet this has something to do with analysts criticizing Amazon during the last earnings call for their high shipping costs. But Amazon seems to be forgetting what made them good in the first place.

This is the most first world problem I've ever heard.

That said I'm outraged.

I still get free 2 day shipping on all prime stuff. Now if I want next day or same day prime delivery I usually have to spend at least $35. And I keep getting email offers to try their latest 2 hour delivery service (usually they offer a $10 free credit to try).

Prime is still worth every penny to me.

Hasn't this been the case for some time now?

Not sure what is going on with you. That link you have in your post, I can buy that and I get 2 day shipping and it doesn't ask me to do anything else.

Agreed! I always get the $49 message until I log in and then I get the "Prime" message.

Did you lapse on payment or something? Your links and all of my usual items all ship free.

Sounds like you decided that a year ago

I get free two day shipping for that. You must not be logged in or don't have prime.

In the last 2 years, they have watered down prime a ton, if you consider the shipping aspect of it.

The music and movies included are nice but I don't really use it

I ordered all prime goods yesterday. They are arriving on the 3rd, 4th, and 6th. I have that they are counting business days rather than getting me my shite all tomorrow.

Choose the 6s Plus size, not the default 6s on that page and tell me what you see.

There are 3 or 4 Amazon warehouses in Dallas, so I get many things same day for free as long as I spend over $35, but that's not always the case. Ordered A/C filters, a USB-C cable and some running shoes Friday before noon. None of it will be here until Tuesday. I get that that is technically 2 business days, but Amazon delivers on Saturday and Sunday here.
I do think Prime is getting watered down. I know customer service has suffered as of late too. In the past when something was late, I would get a $5 Prime credit or they'd overnight a new item to me. The last few times this has happened, they basically said tough shite, we don't "guarantee" 2 day shipping. Don't get me started on that UPS handoff to USPS shite they've implemented for packages. USPS is dog shite, but it's cheaper I guess.
I've been an Amazon member since 2000, and i used to be their biggest cheerleader, but they are changing. I'll renew again this year, but I'm keeping an eye on them. I do think the shipping costs are beginning to get high for them. I heard they're trying to cut out the middle man(UPS, USPS, etc) and start up their own delivery services.
