What's everyone's opinion on bow ties?

I know an attorney who wears one everyday with a three piece suit, to work and Church and even out and about at times. Seems a little much to me, even a little clownish, unless its for a Wedding or big event.

Guys who wear bow ties are often tools.
I only wear mine 2 or 3 times a week for this reason.

I hate it. I have worn them in the store before with my tailor, but I hate the feel of them and the openness it causes underneath. Like not wearing a watch; I feel naked wearing it as opposed to a traditional tie.
