I can remember when Ferbies went that high the closer to Christmas.

No idea, but google just told me they retail for $60 and are selling on ebay for $300. You could turn $600 into $3000 in a few days if you don't mind standing in the cold with a bunch of nerds for a few hours
It's not quite that easy. I'm sure they only get a handful of systems in a day. You'd be lucky to get one of them.

What is the hype about for NES classic? Seems all the game nerds already have a game system that can play all the old classic games. Right?
Raspberry Pi for $30 and an emulator. And I have 1000s more games across a few systems

Yeah but this is hitting on the nostalgia of it all. The look of the console, the feel of the controller, the ability to play it on your TV in your living room like we did when we were kids.
Exactly. When I heard about it, it immediately reminded me of the new South Park season. But they should made it expandable, to add more games. They could've sold them in bundles and made a lot more money.

Here’s why you want a Hatchimal so badly - MarketWatch
LINK
The manufacturer of this elusive toy may have adopted a classic marketing tactic
This Christmas, no word is guaranteed to strike fear into the hearts of parents like Hatchimal. This love child of a Tamagotchi and a Furby is the season’s hottest gift and also appears to be simultaneously in-demand and extinct. The $60 toy is impossible to find at stores, driving crazed parents to pay $200 or more on eBay or Craigslist.
So why can’t the manufacturer just make more?
Clearly, manufacturer Spin Master is aptly named: to sell Hatchimals, it’s adopted a classic tactic. The fewer products we can find, the more desperate we become to track them down. It’s a trick known as scarcity marketing, artificially creating a threat of shortage to sell more stuff. The firm didn’t disclose initial production runs, but claims to have ramped up in response to the frenzy.
Are these like sea monkies?

My favorite scene of the entire movie. I was hoping no one beat me to it the second I read that post.
I was hoping someone would pick up that reference.

Every company does this with hot sellers, not just Nintendo.
The supposed reasoning behind it is it becomes a mythical item that people go crazy for, it drives up awareness and is essentially free marketing.
After Christmas they become readily available and sell out easily in a usually down time for shopping.
I think its retarded.

Right.
My kids will be just as happy with one in March as they would for Christmas.
