No way. They'll make each other nuts. You need a calm breed to offset a beagle.

Yeah. One beagle is all I can handle. First dog I ever had but he will be the last beagle I ever own.

My dad has a blue heeler/beagle mix. If you google that mix, you'll easily see what it will look like.

I was thinking about a bassett. You own one? Any cons you could share?

I've got a beagle mutt that is either bluetick or blue heeler based on the coloring.

Doesn't bark like a beagle but has an easy going disposition which makes me think bluetick. But can jump about 6 feet straight up so I think blue heeler.

Our nightly ritual goes something like this:

Cat hides under the sofa.
Beagle barks and howls flushing the cat from under the sofa.
Chase ensues.
Golden gets involved in the chase by chasing the beagle up the stairs.
Cat hops over the baby gate to his spot in the laundry room.
Dogs come back downstairs and proceed to chew their toys like good dogs.

The beagle wants to play but the golden just wants to chill with his kong so the beagle just falls in line.

Ever.... single... night.

Boxers are great dogs however the 2 beagles my parents have do not care for mine, they are much older & are ornery.

Southeast Beagle Rescue seems to always have a lot of Beagles needing homes or try the shelter, it shouldn't be that hard to find a small terrier mix.

My parents have a rat terrier along with the 2 Beagles & they get along great.

I came here to say Bassett. I have 2. The laziness will offset the activity of the beagle. Cons: they shed, and they are hard to train. Also, better have a good fence because if they catch a scent, they can go for miles. (Had a hole in the fence once and mine ended up at McDonald's 4 miles away convincing people to give him fries. ). But they're loyal and really good companions. Will have to put our old one down here soon, and it's going to break my heart. Get a tri-color and not a yellow. My yellow is borderline retarded, and I hear that's common with them for some reason.

I didn't figure huskies to be good hot weathered dogs. Is this a misconception?

We've got a daschund beagle mix.

Still has the hound characteristics without being a little ankle biting type. We had a brittany spaniel beagle mix before. She was much bigger and a great dog but wouldn't leave you alone.

English Bulldog. Google search for "Beabull". Awesome dogs, we have two.
