Probably because it’s not the 1950’s anymore.

That's a quick and efficient way to show you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

there were some good ones in Bossier/Shreveport back in the 90s.

I grew up near the strip in the 70s. That place was crazy.

quote:

The Strip has been the home of bars and brothels almost since the incorporation of the city in 1907. From about 1930 through the late 1940s the Bossier Strip was as popular an entertainment destination as Las Vegas, having been around for many years prior to the establishment of Las Vegas as a gambling mecca.[4]

The Strip has been the object of political disputes too. In 1972, then Mayor George Nattin fired Police Chief Bobby Joe Almond over what Almond claimed was a dispute over enforcement of after-hours policies for nightclubs on The Strip.[5]

The Bossier Strip is also located in what musicians once called the Magic Circle,[6] an area described by Tillman Franks as an area 50-miles in radius from downtown Shreveport from which many kinds of music evolved. This area has produced an inordinate number of musical performers that have attained high acclaim for their music

I’m too old to want to squish up in a bar with a bunch of drunks BUT back in the 90’s Louisiana had some awesome spots:

Bear Creek Steakhouse
Texas Club
Cowboys - Lafayette
Denim & Diamonds - Shreveport
Honky Tonk - Monroe
Fools Gold - Alexandria

Used to be I had a lotta fun in this old hangout
We'd get stoned at the jukebox and stay outta fights
Now and then we'd light a little smoke in the truck out back
Aww, then a little old Jim Beam and we'd get right
And you know these flashing lights sure make me dizzy
And this disco's very strange to my ear
It looks like they've turned the longhorn into a spaceship
And I'll be leavin' just as soon as I finish this beer

I was never into country but those "honkytonks" were great for picking up hot young heifers, there was a place just outside of the main gate at Barksdale that was a prime fishing spot

I stepped foot in one of those bars one time, and that was enough for me. Was more of a regular at the Square, not much of a honkey tonk guy.

Maybe because country music has been garbage since 1985. "New Country" killed the genre.

same here, I could never get into that boot skooting stuff, went there strictly on the prowl, spent my time down in the square too, got busted with my one and only fake ID there while in hs, a guy on our basketball made them for a few of us when we were juniors and the place where he transposed the numbers were starting to show through under the lamination, the cop checking it looked at it and looked at me and asked how old I was, I said "18 sir," he said "how old would (says my dad's name) say you are if I called him and asked him" he just took it sent me away

Great thing about the 70s in S'port area, the Italian liquor/Convenience stores would sell booze to minors at a slightly inflated price.

Got plenty around here. I go to a place down the road that was opened back in the early 30's. Lots of mean old rancher baws hanging out.

was never carded while buying booze, we would go to the 7-11 right across the street from the hs wearing our letter jackets and buy a couple of quarts of beer after practice sometimes, old guy selling them to us would ask "we going to beat Airline Friday night?" we made the fake IDs for the Sports Page, that was the only place that had a cop at the door checking IDs on the weekend

ETA: one of the few bars that checked IDs

They are very popular in the Phoenix-area, especially in Scottsdale & Cave Creek. Was at one last night and it was packed despite the heat.

Mainstream country is objectively dogshit but there is an abundance of good musicians out there.

Probably so, we werent very good at the time.

My younger brother was an elite dropback QB, the HC moved him to defensive end because we had a running game and he was terrified of the forward pass.

Always wondered what would have happened to him if not for that shite.

No doubt, I'm not going to argue that point. My point being there were so many fake arse wanna-be cowboys when it was popular that it wasn't funny.

I liken that fad to the uptick in Harley Davidson sales to RUB's (rich urban bikers) AKA Drs., lawyers, white collar execs, etc. back in the 90's when all it took was a big enough bank account to buy a HD.

Then head to the showroom and get festooned in all the HD branded leather gear and ride that Harley to the local Starbucks for a latte and bran muffin before heading back home to put the bike back in the garage until the next weekend. Running up the odometer 5 miles at a time.

dude, fads are how this economy works, Urban Cowboy was the boot scoot version of Saturday night Fever, there weren't quite as many disco ducks before that movie either, read up on what "100 Dalmatians" did to Dalmatians sales after that movie
