Is he still playing beer league softball?

Back in the day it was his raison d'etre. He flat out loved slow pitch and he had a solid BA.

He's on MLB network, does a show called intentional talk, with Former Red Sox/Marlin player Kevin Millar.

He pretty much stopped doing a lot of other stuff, so gig must pay good, and he gets to stay home and do the show out of his house, local gig, or at cleveland stadium.

Lawd. Dude was painful. The quintessential "nolaphile" transplant who knows absolutely nothing about New Orleans culture. An early adopter of the "Nola" caricature culture that pervades several white sectors of the city..

When you have to talk about how "authentic" something is, it is probably no longer all that authentic.

One has to get into Jefferson and St Bernard Parishes to find any actually authentic, old school New Orleans Y'at culture these days.

What hurts about that story is that he's got young kids he's trying to support. That's terrible.

They moved on from him a long time ago.

Tigahbruh, you are a poster after my own heart. Couldn’t have said it better about Rose’s inauthentic New Orleansness. I overheard a few minutes of one of his tours and gagged.

Still, I pity the man for what he has become. He is a talented writer.

Great observation. Dude was really like the OG of this movement. Katrina just amplified him completely off the deep end of it.

He gives tours in the quarter.

We did one of his tours last year or the year before, it was about how various forms of music could trace their roots to New Orleans and the surrounding area. He was very entertaining, super personable, gave a really informative, interesting tour. We really enjoyed the time, and would recommend having him lead one for a group of you’re into that sort of thing. But it was also on the back of our minds the entire time, that he really is pretty broken now.
