The City of Pineville just announced that Whataburger has closed on a plot of land at Pinecrest Dr. & Lofton Dr. and will build a restaurant there

If you know the area... that's just off the Monroe Hwy. and almost right across the street from the big Proctor & Gamble plant.

It does come into an area almost oversaturated with fast food restaurants with basically 1 of every chain (as well as an Outlaws BBQ) within about a mile... including a super Walmart (which includes a Subway in it)

ETA: from the City of Pineville Facebook page

quote:

City of Pineville, La
WHATABURGER IS COMING TO PINEVILLE!!!
What had previously been a social media rumor, can now be confirmed - Whataburger is going to open it's first Central Louisiana location in Pineville!!

Last week, the franchisee for Whataburger closed on a 2-acre piece of land on the corner of Pinecrest and Lofton Drives, near the Walmart Supercenter, and will build their famous orange and white facade there for an early 2021 opening!

“We absolutely love hearing that we have so many excited fans in Pineville. We’re still in the preliminary stages of planning and don’t have any specific groundbreaking or opening dates to share yet, but Whataburger is thrilled about the opportunity to bring a new restaurant to Pineville in early 2021. We look forward to serving up our famous burgers, chicken, breakfast and All-Time Favorites menu items, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so stay tuned for updates.” - Whataburger Franchisee Chris Johnson

ETA: I missed where at almost the same time... Natchitoches announced that it's getting a Whataburger too

Natchitoches Parish Journal

quote:

It’s official!!! The NPJ confirmed that a Whataburger is coming to Natchitoches. It will be located in front of the new Hobby Lobby, which is being constructed on Keyser Avenue, next to Chili’s and Ivan Smith Furniture.

I've always wondered why they don't have more locations in Louisiana. One south of LSU would print money being open 24 hours. That Siegen location is full of LSU kids at 10pm.

wasn't it just late last year that the founder's family sold out to some like Chicago conglomerate with the distinct goal being nationwide expansion?

this could be the start of that

Yeah, it still tastes the same though. We have one 2-3 miles from our house.

It's amazing the University of Louisiana has one closer to campus in Monroe than LSU does. I can't believe there's not one somewhere on Burbank south of LSU yet.

And people still try to say Shreveport isn't Texas.

Whataburger making headlines in cenla is like being named the next Amazon headquarters.
Cenla should’ve made the shitty towns list, all of them.

Houma -1

Houma had one back in the mid2000s, it shut down. The location was bought up and became a raising canes. Another issue was that it was built on the East side.

I was impressed at first, but it got old fast.

The last couple of times I’ve been to Whataburger, it was awful. Was once one of my faves.
