100% agree, but can understand in principal why a parent would, even if I think it's just 'drip' for the majority of these kids.

It isn’t about what i like. Its just kids having fun emulating their fav baseball players just like I did with Oakleys and wristbands to look like the Bash Brothers. Did y’all watch the MLB All Star game? Lots of drip.

but then what would the OT bitch about?

How do you expect Braxxtynn to make the varsity bawl team without that mitt bro? You must not love your kid.

Seriously it’s another ridiculous money ploy by the adolescent sports complex. frick all that shite. Go back to rec ball as the good Lord intended.

I played, sons played, no sliding mitts, no broken fingers, etc. Totally unnecessary expense. IMO, I fart in their general direction.

Baseball is a gear-gay sport anyway…let them have their mitts. They need to get real cleats if they want to be athletes though.

Somehow we managed to play baseball for 100 years without those queer mitts

so the good lord intended kids to play 10-12 games and then go back to playing xbox all day?

rec ball sucks. only kids that play it are the ones that suck or at 12...the ones that want to try and make a run.

only people who say shite like this are the ones who have zero clue or the ones that are more concerned about getting to the hunting camp asap to start drinking

and sliding mitts are not a money ploy. its just swag and accessories like there always have been. 90% are less than $50 bucks. most of yall complaining spend more on fast food in a week and are just bitching just to bitch at this point.

Not sure the good Lord intended families to spend most of their weekends from Friday to Sunday night playing 6-8 games in the USSS Super Southern SW Mississippi Blowout Bash World Series XXVI Showcase in Laurel either. But to each dumbass his own I guess. Fools have to spend the time and money somehow.

maybe not, but what is worse...kids sitting at home playing xbox or playing baseball?

any why do so many care so much about how other people spend their time and money? To the point they call it cult?

you do realize that "travel" baseball requires travel of no more than a 2 hour drive 99.99% of the time and for 95%+ of teams from houston to mobile it requires less than an hour... right?

you do realize...if you live in a district that has even a half arse HS program...you cant even make the team without playing travel?

Maybe he would have been the home run king if he had.

Yes, it is certainly a sign of softness. But when the rest of the team has them, what is a person to do?

Is the coach actually requiring them for the team? What age?

I refuse to get one for my kid. At 9 and 10 99% of the kids don’t know how to slide head first.

There was a fat kid on our 9u team last year that was so slow. I can literally power-walk faster than he can run. But every time he took a walk (he can’t beat out a ground ball) on went the sliding mitt.

There what is? That is pretty accurate and somewhat unfortunate because it wasn't always like that. Someone playing 10 games a year in rec ball won't make a decent HS baseball team due to the level of competition.

there is what?

truth?

i dunno how things are in bama...i do know how they work in louisiana and what i said is the truth

i know how things work in texas to and for the most part its truth there too. the exception of some of the insane school districts around austin and dallas that have multiple fields and multiple staffs to where they can take 20+ kids each year...its the truth there

sorry you dont like the answer

and its cool if your kid doesnt want to play in HS, not all my kids play baseball. I prefer football and would rather my kids play that but I dont choose for them.

MLB players use them for a reason. Buy the sliding mitt.

Because they run fast and with mass and their multi-million dollar contracts depend upon their productivity.

Little Jaxxyn, not so much.
