I just don't see how that is genetically possible, unless one parent is red/blond, and the other Brown/another recessive. I'm not sure if which is more recessive, red or blond. Any Ot geneticists?

My wife's mom has Auburn colored hair and her dad is like my wife and other sister - brown with blonde highlights.
