I scored in the upper 3% of Neanderthal genes. I also have some medieval royalty genes.
My dad was adopted and the agency burned down in the paper file days. I could trace my maternal ties all the way back to 19th century Germany/Norway (my grandparents were the first mixed generation). I can also trace my dad's adoptive family way back.
My dad is half Austrian and half German. He was born at a time when a fugitive NAZI could have tapped my blood paternal grandmother on the way through town, hence the adoption. (I was told at a younger age that I was what Hitler would consider a model Aryan.) I wasn't shocked by the results but apparently my dad's side has some pollack in it. That kind of fixed the concern over having NAZI blood.
I will say looking at my supposed family tree on 23 & Me has shown quite a few hot cousins. (Anything past 3rd didn't count as "family", right?)
ETA: My wife is a mutt. The family name isn't even their real name since they were running from the authorities. They did seem to take a liking to that Indian poontang a few generations ago.
