World population would be about 25% of what it is currently.

Neither world War would have been fought.

UK and USA would be the superpowers.

Probably some kind of ethanol or equivalent made from corn or sugar. And the ME would be penniless.

So utopia basically.

In addition to a source of energy there are over 6000 products made from oil and natural gas.

No clue, but they were found, so thank God for that.

Wasn't the industrial revolution the main reason that the UK was a super power? Same for the US to some extent but at least the US is resource rich otherwise.

The trolly car system would be intricate, and its likely we'd have better public transportation.

Industrial Revolution essentially started in the mid-1700s. UK was a superpower by then, challenged by Spain and France. USA would have come along, albeit slower. Germany would not have become the power it did

Also, slavery likely would have lasted much longer.

We'd all be running around in electric vehicle

Where will the grid get the power from to charge the electric cars? Nuclear, wind farms, solar arrays? If not for big coal?

What will substitute for our plastics and oil dependent everyday items that we use?

New York City in 1894 produced 2.5 million pounds of manure every day. I doubt the city would be survivable today.

The term "fossil fuels" is a misnomer. Oil doesn't come from dead dinosaurs. It's a renewable resource.

But even with those, air travel would still be difficult. Hot air balloon ride from NY to L.A. anyone???

There would be no trees left on the planet. There would not have been an industrial rev. Innovation came along because of cheap energy not in spite of it. You greenies are delusional.

Without fossil fuels something else would've been developed I guess. I dunno. Wood isn't sufficient for big steam engines and other than fossil fuels I don't know what is.

In the 19th century it was common for trains to burn wood instead of coal.

We wouldn't have any plastics, many chemicals, lubricants, etc.

A LOT more than just fuel comes from oil and the like.

Probably would have made more advancements in nuclear to electric motor/battery infrastructure, solar, and making plastics and other synthetics from other means. We would be better off as far as transportation goes but the materials and other by-products we normally get from oil would be more expensive and less abundant.
