I think they were all gone the moment the plane hit the water.

May they all rest in peace.

So sad.

I posted this in the other thread

Imagine smacking wood bees with a badminton racket. Some get chopped in half, some get smashed into an unrecognizable blob, some get a broken wing and get smashed again on the way down, some survive to the ground and get stomped, some get chopped in half and then stomped, some get maimed and survive for a few seconds after hitting the ground and then succum to their wounds.

It's a very unpleasant thing to contemplate. There would have been all manner of conceivable carnage in that wreckage.

The blunt drama and the temperature at impact. Ended it 100%

At the very least, hopefully disoriented.

Brings me back to the challenger disaster where life packs were activated post explosion believing that they didn’t die immediately on explosion but rather by hitting the water

I can’t imagine the shock of sitting on a plane and getting hit by a helo

If you live through the first hit it’s just a couple seconds of absolute massive confusion/disorientation before it ending. Hardly a chance to process anything.

There was about 5 seconds between helo impact and water impact. I think everyone died within those 5 seconds.

At the very least within 7 seconds no one felt a thing past that.

I get sick just thinking of it

At least they didn't really have a chance to be scared. Everything was peachy for them until the second of impact. Hopefully they all died of whatever cause in a few seconds.

The earlier traffic point out was for a descending a/c at 1200ft near the bridge south of airfield though.

Not trying to be snarky, but lots of people today don't understanding physics and the effect of blunt force trauma on the average human body, I blame people believing movie physics is real life for some of this.
These posts brought to mind the comparison with the 9/11 jumpers. The people jumping from their offices hit at a similar force. The big difference being that they hit the ground with the force of gravity on them. Those on the plant had the forward acceleration, the weight of the plane, and the impact from the blackhawk. I hope the only thought they had time for was "oww my neck hurts" just before they hit the ground. Drowning and burning alive have got to be the worst two "natural" ways to go. It's the two ways I hate to even think about. On a whole other level would be the jumpers in those final seconds. Thinking of their instinct to survive hitting them after jumping as the ground got closer makes me sick.
