what if we just built a really big powerful fan and aim it in the opposite direction of the storm circulation?

Oh yeah I'm sure that will go over swimmingly. The United States of America turns on fan and blows destructive category 5 hurricane back to Africa.

Well that's complicated. It would depend on the moon phase and the angle of the sun in relatition atomic mass

This page says that over its lifetime, an average hurricane can release 10,000 times the energy of a thermonuclear bomb. So to answer the question: pretty much nothing.

So you want to create a radioactive hurricane, and pick one headed for the length of Florida?

I like it. This is a great idea. Let's do it .

Probably nothing positive except you've just doomed millions of people to a radioactive environment

Dumbest shite I've ever heard. You'd have a radiation hurricane at the least or an extreme hurricane with radiation plus 250 mph winds due to the intense heating.

Somebody would end up with super powers, but would they use them for good or for evil?

I have actually wondered if it might help to install huge pumps around the coastline maybe 100 miles out to pump cold water from deep in the ocean to the surface to cool the water in the path of a hurricane. Of course, that could frick up a lot of other stuff, too, like ocean currents and "conveyor belts", so probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Miami Beach mayor "This is a nuclear hurricane. They should leave the beach, they must leave the beach". Either he read your thread and the idea stuck in his head or maybe he knows something we don't. LINK Who's next on the nuclear hurricane

Why couldn't they just build a huge propeller that spun the opposite way to neutralize the wind?

By the time they got it shipped in from China it would be to late. Probably could understand the assembly directions either.

Let's put the NO department of public works in charge of that project.

They'll build it backwards of course, so we just be sure to flip it over before turning it on.

The weather channel actually covered this a couple of days ago. They had a weather expert on talking about how one nuclear bomb does not have a fraction of the power of a hurricane, and that the only thing that would happen is that radiation would get dispersed over a much larger area.

You mean other than dispersing nuclear fallout over a huge area?

Exactly, small planetwide fallout
