I don't want anyone to die, relative or not, distant or not.
That being said, on a personal level, no football would affect my life more than a stranger's death.

Multiple people I personally knew have died in the past week.
Hope all the other dead people who could otherwise be saved dont get in the way of your sunday entertainment.

I am sorry that people you know have died. That is very upsetting, because they are people that you know.
I think the point of the question was what would depress you more, no football or the death of someone you barely know. The question was not would you pick football over someone's life? I don't think anyone would do that.
