Good, let everyone be reminded that we live in mild times.

That shite is horrifying.

Being crucified.

I've read that after so long, your back begins to break with each breath.

This was always my biggest fear during my time as a tanker, being stuck inside a burning tank.

The train that derailed and sank in the mud in an Alabama Bayou, and then exploded in 1993 then comes to mind.

Anyone else think there's a remote chance she faked her own death? Did she have a big life insurance policy?

Mostly kidding..

Molchanova once dove to a depth of 331 feet and held her breath underwater for more than nine minutes, which makes her disappearance all the more vexing.

In one of these threads recently, there was a story about some dude trapped in a cave upside down that was pretty awful.

Had an elderly patient with a staph infection of his penis implant. He ended up having multiple surgeries, first to remove his penis, then his testicles. Nurses had to pack the abcess with betadine soaked gauze twice a day for his last two months of life before sepsis finally did him in.

I can't imagine the pain and humiliation that man went through in his last few months of life.

I used a butterfly net to catch a bat that had taken up residence on my back porch, once. Didn't want to whack it for fear of catching something from the carnage and ruining my net, so I filled a five gallon bucket and drowned it.

It wasn't nearly as horrific as you'd think and only took seconds for him to stop moving.

Uptake - lots of worse ways to die than drowning...like lingchi.

Jesse Washington had a rough go of it in Waco, too.
quote:

A chain was placed around his neck and he was dragged toward city hall ... he was stripped, stabbed, and repeatedly beaten with blunt objects. ...at city hall, a group had prepared wood for a bonfire next to a tree in front of the building. Washington...was doused with oil, hung from the tree by a chain, and then lowered to the ground. [The] crowd cut off his fingers, toes, and genitals. The fire was lit and [he] was repeatedly raised and lowered into the flames until he burned to death. ...Washington attempted to climb the chain, but was unable to, owing to his lack of fingers. The fire was extinguished after two hours, allowing bystanders to collect souvenirs from the site of the lynching, including Washington's bones... [and] kept part[s] of Washington's genitalia; ...children snapped the teeth out of Washington's head... By the time that the fire was extinguished, parts of Washington's arms and legs had been burned off and his torso and head were charred. His body was removed from the tree and dragged behind a horse throughout the town.
And Sam Hose didn't fare much better in Newnan, GA.
quote:

Newspapers reported that Hose's ears, fingers and genitals were severed. The skin from his face was removed and his body was doused with kerosene. He was tied to a tree and burned alive. Some members of the mob cut off pieces of his dead body as souvenirs.
