Not hating, but Levi's have been around for 135 years
Funny that you say that because wanting Levis instead of any other kind of jean is the only brand decision I remember making as a kid. I did argue with my mom about wanting Levis when I was in junior high.
Adidas is the only other brand I remember wanting as a kid. That was because of the "All Day I Dream About Sex" thing though.
Sporting goods items were the first things I bought because of brand. That started in High School. Had to get the Chuck Taylors & got white-on-white Adidas cleats as a freshman. Nike wasn't around, but I do remember wanting Rebook running shoes when you had to order them from a magazine & have them shipped from England. I think the only color they came in was white with red & blue striping.
Did care too much about clothing brands until college. The old Lacoste shirts with French labels were one of the first things I thought I had to have. Shopping got ridiculous from then on.

I really wanted a Gordon Gartrelle shirt but they were too expensive so my sister tried to make me an exact replica of one.

Skidz parachute pants were cool for one year in 89-90. I remember the style was a Hypercolor tshirt, skidz pants, and penny loafer shoes

Had a member's only jacket in middle school. High school was leather jacket and levis denim jacket.
Also remember havin some pepe' jeans and shirts
Now I'm Levis and nike dri-fit
