I understand. Have had my share of spiritual sensings, for lack of better terms, along the way that served as bridges and/or moments of affirmation

I have had similar experiences of answered prayers. But I’m a negative and pretty pessimistic person by nature. Aquinas’s argument from contingency is what really sold me.

The older that I get, the more I have a general believe in some sort of higher power. In addition, I believe that our life here on Earth is the primary concept of what would be called a hell.

I was 24 years old and had been trying to drink myself to death for a couple of years, had been suicidal for months, when I decided WTH, I’ll go to treatment, I can always shoot myself later.
The first thing they told me was, recovery is a God thing. I told them, well that’s a problem, I don’t believe in God, haven’t since my mom asked me to help her commit suicide..I don’t believe in anything but my impending doom.
Their reply was, try praying for the willingness to believe.
I did that and in short order I came to believe, I saw how many times God had actually been there for, all the wrecks, close calls I had survived. It wasn’t my time to go yet.
That was in 1984.
I struggle still going to church regularly and some of the dogma and organized religion in general, but I believe in God.

We live in a fallen world that is full of Awfulness and greatness in which God can intercede. My moment was when my middle
daughter was in the NICU for 2 weeks post
Birth. 7 days in she wasn’t doing well, then my grandpa unexpectedly dies of Alzheimer’s on the 8th day. (Only day of my life I truly lost it) That day my daughter rebounded and they took her off the breathing machine. I know damn good and well that my grandpa immediately made that happen when he left this world.

1. When I was about 11, I had a dirt bike and used to ride in the vicinity of a rather large drainage canal (Claycut Bayou). There were many trails crisscrossing this canal for several miles. There was a small man made bridge crossing the small area at the bottom of the canal that had flowing water. One day I was riding across this bridge like I had done hundreds of times before but going a bit too fast and rode the bike off the bridge (less than a 2 ft drop to the bottom). Tried for an hour to get the bike out of the water but was too young and weak to get it out myself. Crying my eyes out. Almost dark and knowing I couldn’t leave the bike there. All of a sudden, an older guy I knew who had a bigger bike happened by. He killed his bike and came over and helped me and we easily got the bike out. God bless that dude.

I have a hard time believing in god, especially a benevolent god, but William Lane Craig is a brilliant man.

i lost my Dad when i was 17.

he had a drinking problem most of his life but had turned things around in the last year of his life.

he got killed in a wreck less than mile from his home coming back from a AA meeting of all places.

I remember having so much anger in me for days. I would have fought anyone. But when he was laid to rest at his funeral I was overcome with a peaceful feeling.

it was like nothing else i've ever experienced before or since then really. I've since then had many instances where I felt that anger come back like i did when i first learned he had died. But at his funeral I felt his presence and I was okay.

the last year of high school i made the best grades i ever did in my time there.

I played 2 sports real well that year. Baseball and Football.

even though i've struggled with what happened since then I feel like that was a vital year in my life.

that i first realized a higher power did in fact exist and i felt peace in a time of true agony.

Dude I commend you. I'm at the point of no return as far as believing and if anything like that happened to me, I'd be a proud and obnoxious atheist

I’ve had multiple instances, 3 specifically:

-When I was a 4-5 years old I was in the hospital for days with like a 105 fever, docs could not get it down. I have no recollection of this event at all but mom said I told her I could see angels and then a man singing to me

-When I first started driving I looked in my rear view and there was a dude sitting there. Freaked the frick out I called my parents. Described the guy and my moms tripping out...

-Motorcycle accident two years ago, a guy pulled out in front of me and I slammed into the back of his truck and was instantly out. Apparently I slid into the other lane of oncoming traffic. I remember opening my eyes and seeing a man yelling COTTEN! MOVE MAN!! And crawled to the side of the road. Police asked me to describe this guy later and mom said it was the same description as the other two times.

Not sure I saw god any of those times but I’m convinced it’s my guardian angel or something.

I’ve been a Christian as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until before my son was born, where I felt and heard God most.

Just a really cool moment where I was thanking God for everything in my life, my wife, my yet to be born son, and then I sat there in silence and I heard God say “just wait until you see him” almost with a wink at the end.

It was very cool and I still get chills thinking about it. He was right! My handsome lil man is more adorable than I thought possible.

Good story man. God is always with us, and while it dont seem like he always answers our every prayer, he does.. it just may not be the way you want. God isnt there to be our genie in a bottle to do what we want, he is there to give us what we need. So glad your little man is feeling better.

People do X and Y happens, they attribute Y to X.

Yea it’s called denying the antecedent. Which is the exact logic the scientific method uses.
