Got a job as an oyster shucker at 14
It was a dirty job but hell of an experience. Nothing like getting bloodied up from the knife, and dressing these snot rocks to eat. In hindsight, it was the bottom job and taught me how to maneuver "up the ladder", but at the end of the day:whatever you do, do it well

Worked summer camp at my school starting at age 12. Instead of pay, they took money off my tuition.

Worked under the table as a bus boy at a Chinese restaurant. Not a bad first job. Owners were nice and I got free food.

construction labor, digging concrete footers with a shovel, cleaning bricks, packing sheetrock, etc. As a high school summer job, you'll definitely be more appreciative and study a little harder after that to make sure you get a job in the AC.

First Job was as an Usher at the old Joy's Robert E. Lee Theater on Plank Road circa 1981-82. $3.35 per hour.
This was before it turned into the $1.00 movie anytime theater.
Once that happened I worked as "security" mainly due to my size and the fact that I was a football player. In any case, I had to crack a few heads with a 4D maglight back in the day. Cops didn't give a frick what we did as long as we called them to come pick up the trash so they could charge them with disturbing the peace and remaining after being forbidden. Culture got real once the change happened.
Fun Times. LOL

delivered beer for a distributor in highschool. First day on the job we delivered to a strip club. I was not allowed in. Convinced the guys I really had to go to the bathroom. They told me to come straight back. First time at a strip joint at the age of 16. Not bad.
Every other part of the job sucked. First day I worked from 5am to 5pm. Told my parents I was quitting. Long story short... I was not quitting

At about 5 years old, I sold my mom's pottery work for family Christmas money. After no luck at a dozen or so front doors, at the next I asked, "You don't want to buy any pottery, do ya?". The couple laughed and told me that was NOT the way to sell things - but invited me inside and I made my first sale.
Every house after that it was, "You don't want to buy any pottery, do ya?". worked great. That's how I learned what a "closing line" is.
