Mom was always the one for different games at home. When we came home from college for Christmas or Spring Break with friends in tow it was one of the following:
*Rummikube
*UNO
*Skipbo
*Dominoes

Mom is 83 now, and the last time we sat down for a family game night it was Phase 10. (The dice version goes a tad bit faster than the card version, so it depends on how long you want to spend playing for a decision of which version you want.)

Oh HELL yes! I had forgotten about that! Undoubtedly my father-in-law's favorite of all of them! Wish I could give you extra upvotes for that suggestion.

Don't remember what we called it but when my aunts and uncles would come over we'd play that game where someone picks an obscure word out of the dictionary. Everyone else had to come up with a definition and then the picker would include the real definition and read them all. Whoever had the most picks for their definition won the round.

My favorite was when my uncle said sabulous meant something was super fabulous. Lots of fun playing that game.

3-4 of us - Rummikub, or 5 Crowns, or Hearts. Often all three.

Big gatherings of 6 - 10 - Double Hearts. Two decks and if a card is duplicated they cancel each other so they can't take the trick, but the points still count. Queen of spades leads get brutal. I honestly would rather play regular hearts.

The older generation is phasing out of the picture now with newer games to interest the nieces and nephews. There is no standard game yet for the younger game nights.

I know one thing, not one person in here has set up mouse trap and actually played the game.
