I remember that concrete slide was rough. If you slipped off the pad the concrete would give you brush burns. It was pretty easy to sand your knuckles also from holding the pad in front.
Went there many a Sunday after church back in the day.

It is. They just do local shows now.

Talk about old memories.
I loved going there as a kid even though you spent most of your allotted time standing in line on the hill.
3 different slides.

I went there as a kid a couple times until there was one particular day when there was this one boy who was like 8 or 9 behind me in line and would take bites out of those foam pads they gave you to go down the water slides with.
I didn't really think anything of it until I looked at my pad, and there was little chunks taken out all over it. Then I looked at my brother's pad, and it was the same way. As I was walking around noticing the chunks taken out of all the foam pads it became clear - this kid has been going there every day feasting on slippery, snot and spit infested foam pads for the entire summer.
I stopped going after that and got my mom to buy me a slip-n-slide.

I remember my father bringing my sister and I. One of the slides had a short tunnel you went through. There was a piece of sheet metal hanging from it and it sliced my father's chest open about 10" across. 30+ years later and he still has that scar.

My mom got us a roll of visqueen. After 3 days we turned the backyard into a mud hole with dead grass the old man made us roll it up, put in the garbage can and banned us to the neighbors yard.

Went to Southwinds once, maybe, twice for Exxon safety picnics. Had a blast.

Eventually the man made hill was removed and Bass Pro Shop was built.
Bass Pro was built East of the Waterslide site.
Worked at Southwinds WS Jr and Sr year Summer's. Good times.
Actually cut that hill with a "hover" mower one of those Summer's too for $12/hr. My God the amount of suck that was (not to mention ant bites).
Manager of that place actually took his own life years later (Marshall)

I went several times as a kid
Fun times
For awhile you could still see it even though they let the grass overtake it
