This not true at all. You're thinking of Baton Rouge.

It’s true, I was going to school at the time. I became friends with nice kids from the north side, but their parents contributed zero to the Lafayette school system. Hence all schools in Lafayette are on par with a third world system. The least they can do is clean the insides, they are absolutely filthy, especially LHS.

I grew up not far from there, actually drive by there practically every day, but I'm too young to remember which was which. There's 2 buildings there though, and they tried to reopen one as the Wagon Wheel several years ago I think, I guess trying to touch back on the former namesake. Currently both buildings are/were flea markets, at one time one of them was a strip club, and for a short period of time, a Ninfas Mexican Restaurant. That's right, Duson had a Ninfas.

That's right. It was just at the Duson exit on the south side of I-10.

The Fish turned into an all black night club after they finally shut it down. I think it was called Strawberries.

LOL I went in 89 or 90 for an afternoon wedding reception. I think I went back once when it was turned into an all night joint. I'm from New Iberia, so we never quite fit in around there.

STM produces really good graduates. Not nearly as whorey as St. Joe’s or as douchy as Catholic High or Jesuit.

Good to know, my son will be a freshman there next year.

It was pretty cool. The Acadiana Mall was great back then. The waterfall, puppet theater, that little flipping puppet thing at the shoe store, I think it was Greenwood Shoes, and the pet store were all good memories back then.

Born in 67 in BTR, moved to LFT for oil in 77. Great place to grow up, no worries playing on the streets, enough things to do outside to keep me busy and out of trouble, I could ride my scooter to practice at Thomas park, Lafayette High and Neyland Park without being mowed down by drivers playing with cell phones.

I live in Lafayette now after growing up in Slidell. Lafayette food and culture WAY overrated. Traffic is awful. Would not want to stay here if I didn’t have to.
