But to be honest it wasn't that bad. Certainly not as bad as some warned me.

05 F250 with the 6.0. It took me a year to work all the engine issues out of it, then the trans took a dump.

The people I know with this generation diesel F-250 all had issues. About half of them traded for the newer 6.4L version when they came out, which was every bit as crappy.

The newer ones are slightly better, but still atrociously unreliable and expensive to keep running. Combination of foolish emissions restrictions and Ford being themselves.

I've had 2 bad experiences with Nissans but I've owned 1 GMC truck, 3 Dodge trucks, 1 Ford truck, 1 Jeep Wrangler and a Honda Accord that were all solid vehicles. A couple of these were my wife's but I kept up the maintenance on them.

A few of them had some minor repairs done with the most expensive being on the Honda Accord but it's been solid otherwise.

BMW 740 rear wheel drive late 90's, one inch of snow turned that car into a sled.

The POS 6.0 and 6.4 were international engines and suffered from poor manufacturing processes. The 6.7 is better but it's hard to tell because all modern highway diesels are complete fricking garbage.

Honda Accord

We had one and I loved it. It wasn’t fancy and the paint job was bad, but it rode and handled very well. Never gave us any issues. Traded it because we needed all wheel drive.

We had a recent used Taurus in the 90's that was a money pit. Sold it and bought a beater.

08 Honda accord.

Drank oil faster than gas, straight off the lot.

2016 they recalled the entire engine. Had already dumped it by then, with a cracked head and 110K on it.

Younger people would never believe me, but Nissan used to manufacture very reliable cars. It’s crazy what has happened to that brand in just a short time.

1987 "Chevy Nova." It was actually a 1985 Corolla underneath. (The real 1987 Corolla had electronic fuel injection.)

My favorite memory is crossing some railroad tracks on US49 in Hattiesburg and losing a motor mount. I even told my passenger at the time, "that felt like we just lost a motor mount." That just exemplifies how flimsy that thing was.

One particularly annoying thing about owning that car was that people constantly told me how practical and reliable it was. Bull fricking shite.

I replaced it with an '86 Buick Century with a 2.5L engine and it felt like a Rolls-Royce in comparison. Still miss that Buick.

This was like a 1992 hardbody and a 2007 Altima. I think the hardbody was just a lemon because those things were known to be pretty reliable.

The worst part about the Altima was that I had the CVT transmission replaced and we gave it to the oldest kid as her first vehicle and she totaled it like 3 months later

man I'd love to have a Galaxie 500 from 65-67 with the stacked headlights.

Do a restomod on it and that would be a nice ride.

my wife's chevy traverse.

Bingo. Got one for my wife. It was either '09 or '10. Several small electrical things with windows/interior/radio that were all handled under warranty. Then, about 2,000 miles after the warranty ran out, $7k on a new transmission.

But for whatever reason, she loved that vehicle and drove it up until 3 years ago. But that thing was a pain in my arse while we owned it.

it gets decent gas mileage and the third row is a winner for not having a larger SUV.

i just got a new escape for a work vehicle (i've been driving ford focuses for the last 10 years for work) and i think a bit of jealousy has kicked in from all the new features that came out in the last 6 years or so from a technology standpoint. i don't overly want to drive an escape, but i'm glad to not be in a sedan any more.

Mine was a Pontiac Grand Prix in the 90's bought it to help out a family member- had 10K miles- the next 90K miles it was driven mostly highway miles with kids going to college out of town

Replaced everything twice-starter, alternator, head gaskets, transmission, water pump, radiator, the list goes on- the last time the transmission died- I sold it as is and watched it towed away- it was top of the line loaded- what a royal piece of junk- never understood why GM closed Oldsmobile but kept Pontiac and buick

BMW decided that they could save a few dollars putting plastic parts in they’re cooling system. What could possibly go wrong?

It actually has nothing to do with cost and everything to do with reducing mass on the front of the car particularly forward of the front wheels. That near 50/50 weight distribution doesn't come without some compromises.

My car nightmare was an Audi Coupe GT Quattro, god I loved that car and its racing pedigree but there was always something wrong or waiting to go wrong. Still wish I had it today though.
