I think it actually slows down in the summer. Less gutter punks. It is too hot for them but boy do they file when it gets cold elsewhere.

In the car now headed to Vermont for the weekend.

Going to drink some incredible beers and enjoy some quiet time in the mountains.

Curious, how does the OT pay for vacations? Some serious spenders in this thread.

1.). Load up the credit cards, you only live once
2.) strategically pay down cards during the year, I have a plan to pay it off quickly
3.) I saved actual money for the trip
4.) won't even feel the hit

That hunt I went on in Texas last week had so many deer it wasn't even fair. I'd shoot a doe and the other 20 standing there wouldn't even move

I don't get the appeal of hunting an animal that you don't eat

We used to book lavish trips to "relax" and we hated it.

Now we see how cheaply we can do things, we camp, we will sleep in the SUV at sub zero temps, I just bought a rooftop tent. It's fun.

I make sure my credit cards are at zero. I budget 1500 in cash. I don't ask how much the wife is bringing. We have seen some awesome stuff.

It's over on the 3-D trail. First real obstacle of the trail. A fairly easy climb, but it has two 1ft ledges at the top about 6ft apart. Given their positioning, I had zero way to guarantee I could pop over them without sliding off to the right

Thanks, we'll definitely check it out.

There's a stair case of 4' high, 4' deep stairs at SMORR(missouri), and I saw with my own eyes a stock Rubicon go up them like he was going through a drive-thru for burgers.

The very next week I sold my wrangler sport and bought the JK. Never looked back since.

Eta...here is a video of some dudes avoiding the steps, it's hard to see the lip of them until his tire falls over them, trail videos and pictures never do them justice...

Double whammy at smorr

I charge everything but everything is paid off within the statement period. Accommodations are usually with VRBO.com and are paid for before the trip. Most flights are booked with miles. Charge everything on the trip and pay it off when I return. If I purchase plane tickets it's done months in advance. We take several trips a year and nearly all of them are planned for months in advance.

A vacation generally isn't outside our normal spending except for something like our Italy trip last year which was for two weeks. We don't limit ourselves much when we travel. If we want to eat at a Michelin restaurant or charter a boat for a day we do it.

CC for protection then pay it off when I get back, I am debt free and intend to stay that way.

This. We put a certain amount each month into an online savings travel fund. Usually pay for everything on credit card for points, but then I transfer whatever we spend on a trip out and pay off the balance.

Yeah a 1ft ledge is nothing, until you're already 200ft up a hill that's 45 degrees or better. The local trail rating map I had said a 2wd suv could do it. No way

With a front locker, sure.

We always run poison spyder on rhinos. There's a set of steps that are offset, one side drops 3ft or so before the other. You can't climb it on a rhino, but you can descend no problem at all. The rental companies don't let their stuff out there as a result.

We are a 3 vehicle household: xterra, 4runner, and rubicon.

Where ya diving?

Just returned. Two dives on Sand Key reef, followed by the Vandenberg dives, night dive to Cayman Salvage Master & 9 foot Spike reef (very cool, and the stars at sea were amazing), last dive charter was back to the Vandenberg. Used Captain's Corner for all charters (very impressed). Check their Facebook page, that's our group in the night dive GoPro clip.
