I'm using a g2 currently and it ok. I just like a more weighted pen.

A friend of mine gave me a decent cross pen as a gift which I promptly lost. And of course I feel like a total a-hole.

That's what I'm looking at right now are cross pens. Seem to have some good reviews.

Pencils are making a comeback.

Get yourself a nice, high quality pencil and see if you don't agree with me.

ETA: Not a mechanical pencil, a wooden pencil (preferably dyed jet black) with a softish lead.

We all have our hang ups. This one is tied to me being in a bar one night and getting a good look at the nasty on the ink pen they gave me with the receipt. Just threw a switch in my head and I have carried a pen since. Of course, it doesn't bother me one bit that everything else in this particular dive was just as nasty. Only the pen got to me. It isn't logical, it just is.

gotcha

ETA: I had a Mont Blanc that a flight attendant gave me out of the duty free cart for helping her with a little car trouble one day, gave it to my sister, who likes nice pens, because I knew I'd lose that sucker in a week

Pilot G2.

Got the limited edition (it's $10, but it is metal).

what type of ink would you prefer?

The G2 is gel, a lot/most of the more traditional brands are either rollerball or fountain, although you can get replacement gel cartridges.

Ballpoint is another option, of course, and the ballpoint/hybrid refills have gotten pretty good.

I'm not sure what staples would have in the "nicer" category. I assume they probably have a few Cross and Parker pens. I haven't had any Parker pens since I was a kid, but I had a Cross ATX rollerball for a while that was a pretty nice pen. I'm sure I still have it somewhere and could recommend it.

On Amazon, they have a ton of Retro 51s and Pelikans that are prime eligible I think. I have a solid brass pen (definitely weighty) that accepts a ton of refills (including G2) made by Machine Era Co. It's a cool pen, and on Amazon. Beware, that brass will pick up a patina quickly so it won't look shiny very long. I like the look, but it may not be what you're out for.

Benchmade is my daily. Writes great and can be used as a weapon in a pinch.
