re: What should we do with all the homeless people?

There's more homeless than folks think that actually have income (VA disability, SS, SSI, Workers Comp, etc.) and live the homeless lifestyle because they don't have anyone telling them what to do, they can drink/do drugs as much as they want, there's plenty of folks to have sex with and they can pick up and move when it strikes them. Having "do gooders" provide free meals 2 or 3 times per day, certainly doesn't help the situation.

This can’t work.
States were repeatedly sued for inadequate care in the 1980s. So they all just shutdown their facilities.. and saved a ton of money for operating costs.

To anyone reading:
Before I dive in, are there any constructive conversations in this thread or it is just a bunch of “put ‘em at the bottom of the ocean” stuff?

First find out which ones want help and help them.
Second, ignore the others unless they trespass or break any other laws.

Seriously, if a person is homeless and not shitting in the street and not trespassing why is there a problem? There is no law in this country which states you must have a home that I am aware of. It wouldn't be my idea of an idyllic existence but who am I to judge?

Most is dump them in the ocean or send them to some other country....not much constructive material. The consensus seems to be that the mentally ill should be killed for being ill. I did ask if we could not apply the same idea tp the physically ill since they are one and the same and got several downvotes.

Move to the country. No homeless in the sticks.

NYC, Chicago, L.A., and S.F. seems like welcoming cities.
Bus tickets are cheaper in the long run. Send 'em.

In 1975 The Supreme Court pretty much said if you don't want to be in a mental hospital you can leave.
