re: What random small thing do you appreciate like never before after having a wife and kids.

As an old "get-off-my-lawn" fart, I had that period of peacefulness just like everyone here is describing . Wife, 2 kids, now grandkids. Enjoyed every minute of it. But youngest son has been living in Japan for 4 yrs now, married, a grand daughter I'll be lucky to see 3 mabe 4 times; oldest with 2 kids, living his own, well earned life, busy all the time, lost my wife.....there is a lot too much down time now. Am thankful more & more God invented Mr. Jameson's.
