Count me in as one. A no doubter. Had booze withdrawals and shaking so bad I could barely walk to the bathroom to take a piss, was in bed for 2/3 of the day. Luckily I didn't puke but I fought it so hard not to, feels like I did a 12 hour ab workout. Said this in the lunch thread but I'm going to a very very long rehab stint in South Florida tomorrow

I think I’m a functional alcoholic to be honest, in that it doesn’t interfere with my job and is if anthing a benefit since I’m expected to get drunk with my clients, but I do think I have a bit of a problem. I completely refuse hard liquor though. I only drink beer and wine, because I know the end road with liquor. I can’t ever be comfortable with that, or I’m fricked.
I’m willing to bet a significant portion of this board are alcoholics. I think 35% are alcoholics, with 25% being functional, and 10% being nonfunctional. I think that’s a pretty safe bet.

I am for sure.
I don't recommend.

I haven’t had it that bad, and hardcore alcoholics tend to tell me I am not an alcoholic if I haven’t done this before. But then professionals tell me I am if I have a six pack a night to go to bed. I might have a high tolerance, but I haven’t been hungover to work in years regardless how much I drank (save for shots which I rarely, rarely drink). I don’t think I have a problem, but I know my genetic predisposition and know it’s a problem even if I haven’t hurt anyone with my drinking.

I don't normally do the "thoughts and prayers" routine, but I sincerely wish you the best, brother.
I have been in a similar situation.

I know this isn’t your first stint, but god bless you, man. I hope it takes hold of you this time. My gene pool is genetically predestined to this, but for the time being I usually only drink 6 per night. Physicians tell me that’s way too much, but it’s certainly better than the members of my family that go after liquor. I have a slight problem, but it doesn’t hurt my work and social life so far.
The later of which may be explained because I hang with crazy people that are awesome and the former of which I don’t feel like shite the next day and treat people with respect. My body processes Miller Lite like a calf processes milk.

Thank you both. It was up to a liter every work night and on the weekends even more all day until late Sunday night. Times where I would remember maybe 3 hours total from Friday at 5pm to Sunday at 10pm. It got/ is bad. If no vodka then it was 3~ magnum bottle of Pinot griogio. All this with barely eating a thing. Workdays it got to where I wasnt eating anymore than 700 calories of solid food a day

I’m serious on this: let me know if I can help. I think I’m still ok, and people have been telling me this for 8 years and I’ve gone down slightly since then, but I have a blood relative that doesn’t have the gift I do.
Let me know what I can do to help. Omlandshark@gmail.com. I talk shite on this site, but I do care about many posters on this site, and you are certainly one of them. If you ever need to let a load off (no pun intended) let me know. Seriously, I do care about posters here and want to give them a more fulfilling life if I can. I’ve struggled as well, and denial isn’t healthy.

3 days now. I just fought it and did nothing for 2 full days during the withdrawals. Still a bit shaky but no one would really know. Every 12 hours it has gotten better. I really thought I was going to have to go to the ER(which I've done for the Dts and puking)

Going back to rehab? Have you done a spiritual retreat? I was mentally ill and a spiritual retreat saved me. Try that out if you haven’t done it.

Bookmarked and thanks. It'll be many months before I can post again. And yes, going to yet another one

Good luck man, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. If you looked through my post history, you would know I’m very serious on this subject. Feel free to send me a letter.

I just want to be able to sleep. I've only had about 5 hours in well over 48 hours.
