When my great uncle was in his late teens living in the French Quarter, his girlfriend was Dorothy Lamour.
She went on to Hollywood and starred in a bunch of movies with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.

As Huey Long lay on the marble floor of the state capitol building riddles with lead from the assasination his last words whispered into the ears of a doctor were recorded as
"He has lost control.....1...9...12"
No one knew what that phrase and those numbers meant until a few years ago.

St. Martin Parish is split because it is older than the other south-central parishes. The others were carved out... No one wanted the lower portion, so it stayed part of St. Martin
Not true.

Yo history buffs, can someone find a list of the oldest active corporations in Louisiana? Or where we could go to find one? My family has been trying to find a list forever with no luck
Posted on 5/5/14 at 5:42 pm to PierPunk
I'm sure the list would start with Tabasco?

My first wife is from Natchez, I think she graduated from South Natchez in 84. I wouldn't doubt she has heard of the Zerby's.

The co-founder of Yahoo, David Filo, is from Moss Bluff

So the woman in the obituary is the little girl in middle of the pic I posted on the last page.
Yes it is, Alice is alive and well. I just spoke to her Daughter-in-law. She is lurking this thread as I type this.
