Parents made me take piano lessons in 3rd grade for 2 years.. I at least learned to play the piano and how to read music.

Jr High played drums in Marching and Concert bands

High school, played Snare in marching band, tympani and any percussion in concert band.

Made District Honor Band 8-12 grade, All state honor band jr year.. totally blew tryouts senior year.

Made snare line freshman year at La Tech. Played in band for 2 years at Tech and got tired of it. Quit.

Still beat on just about any furniture or steering wheel etc. lol

Harry-

Throughout my years I have dabbled in many different instruments starting with trumpet in 5th grade. I hated it and quit after a week and never even considered another instrument until I picked up a guitar when I was 14. Throughout my high school and college days and I was self taught through tablature on guitar and bass rocking with fraternity brothers in a house band playing Skynryd, Allman Bros and .38 Special covers.

My guitars and amps were stolen my senior year and being broke I could not afford to replace them.

Life got busy with graduation and starting a career then family and I never played again until I was 33 and nearly lost my passenger side middle finger to a black widow bite/MRSA. I was lucky to keep the finger though it doesn’t work quite a well. I am right handed so it does fine holding a pick but finger picking has been a challenge.

I’m back to rocking and hoping to get my boys (aged 4 and 2) into learning to play instruments at an early age so I can have a band at home.

Did and still play the bass. I guess about 36 years. But, didn’t play much through my 20s and 30s. Got back serious about 10 years ago. I guess my midlife crisis was I woke up one morning and decided I’m going to join a band.

Guitar, I was a bar band player for about 10 years back in my 20s-30s. I’m almost 60 now and I can’t remember the last time I picked up a guitar.

Piano.

Years of lessons I was forced to take from 1st grade til 7th. Threw my books out of the school bus window one day. I was done.

Parents were less that thrilled but I was a jock and band shite was for dweebs in the bleachers. I was on the field.

Anyways, I now have my own piano but am quite rusty. Luckily a fellow OT’er that was in TGBFTL occasionally is at the house and plays the shite out of it.

Played trombone also, quit when braces came off my teeth. I totally lost my embouchure when mine came off. Loved playing in orchestra and stage band, hated marching cause it had nothing to do with quality music.

I’m 72 and change and think I want to learn to play the trumpet. I was in the band in the 9th grade for 2 weeks and the football coach said to pick band or football, no time to do both. I foolishly chose football and wish I would have picked band just to play that trumpet that escaped me back then. I’ve been eyeballing used trumpets online.

Trumpet until 8th grade. Switched to mellophone and French horn in high school. Started college at McNeese for a year and tried out for their marching and concern bands bc it paid pretty well. Ended up making second chair French horn in the top concert band, without giving a single frick.

College band was fun. Marching band was split up into two groups. Party group and band nerds. I didn't fit in with the band nerd group. Concert band was 99-1 ratio of band nerd. They wanted to practice as a French horn section every Friday afternoon. I made zero of those. Good times though, and a nice chunk of extra change.

Percussion.....
I was in "Hinders", they suck, lead singers first band.
I still play drums, acoustic, bass and wash board. Washboard isn't as easy as it sounds.
Been playing music since I was 8 years old.
