Lafayette High '97. Jack Kemp, 1996 VP nominee, gave a speech at our gym and we all got out of class to go see him. Bob Dole had a rally at Vermillionville the night before the election too. Fugazi was supposed to play a show at our gym one year but it got either cancelled or moved. I think our soccer team may have won a state championship one year. They were usually pretty good anyway.

Until we were told we wouldn’t get to walk in our graduation if we didn’t go back to class.

I could see abandoning your moral values if you were not going to get the diploma you earned, but to cave in to walk across the stage for a HS diploma? You sound like a "regular neighborhood kid".

I was looking through a cookbook today that has photos of Vermillionville in it. First thing that came to mind was going to see Bob Dole speak.

Cathedral Carmel 80-82 and St. Thomas More 82-83. I was a senior when Lyle Mouton was a freshman. Some senior aholes were picking up freshman and throwing them in the pee trough in the locker room. One by one they were getting initiated. When Lyle was next, the guys said... "Uh he's cool". Lyle would have probably kicked both their arses…

I was not one of the guys. Just an average guy who was glad they weren't fing with me.

Archbishop Hannan High School in St. Bernard. 94-98.

I guess finally beating Karr in football was a big deal.

Also we were building a bad arse basketball program until there was a cheating issue and the coach was fired. The players and coach all went to South Lafourche Where thy damn near built a dynasty.
