I saw the silver guy driving out of the quarter and crossing esplanade in what looked to be an early 90s Toyota Cressida or some such thing. He's probably just frugal and has his money working for him in the markets.

Yea there were 4 or 5 40+ year old dudes doing the "got dem shoes" shite Monday in Jackson Square. No kids. I did enjoy see a few Clemson fans fall for it but then told the men to basically frick off and I am not giving you anything.

The gold guy who does the Michael Jackson boom box bit is a legit dancer/performer and works a ton of tourist gigs doing other outfits for the city. The busking is just good side money that gives him a free schedule around everything else. MOST artists who live full time off their talent have several side hustles to keep cash coming in. I won’t speak to any of the others, as I don’t know them, but he also uses skin safe body paint for the skin coverage. I’m sure it’s probably a mix of artists who busk for side money and people who live from tip to tip.

Are they?

What if homeless people on the side of the road are just normal people acting like living statues on street corners?

idk the thought of making tax free cash money all day long with no stress does sometime seem appealing. I would be that some of the good ones clear over a $100k a year, tax free.

The performers especially. One of the violinists has a regular gig with the LPO I believe.
Busking isn’t easy. I respect those that make it a success.

Probably different standards in life than other people.

Might be makeup or costume paint. Would hope it is at least.

Some of the buskers are just traveling seeing and experiencing making money to survive each day. Others have found consistent pay and like doing what they are doing.

How do these guys avoid getting shot and robbed leaving the Quarter? They are loaded with cash and coin and obviously aren't quick movers.
