What kind of bug is this?

Looks like a small wasp with no body, but I've seen several last few weeks that look the same way.
Keep seeing them around Houston and Katy. Very strong, hard to squash.

Anyone?

I call them moon crickets......its actually a small breed of wasp. will sting the frick out of you.

Hard to tell after you whacked it, maybe an Ensign Wasp. Ensign wasps don't sting and kill roaches. Long back legs and split v antenna are typical of the ensign wasp.

They are very beneficial.

If it is an ensign wasp (which is likely), doesn't sting. They are roach predators.

Damn.
They lay one egg in a roach egg nest, the larvae eats thru the egg, then when it's bigger from eating it, eats the rest of the eggs.

I love it.

And yep, I used a lot of those K&Bs...but the old Eckerd next to the Caterie was our fam pharm for Southdowns.
