Yep. I work with a handful of guys who couldn't handle alcohol so they had to quit. They try to save me from my ways every week.

I only drink on two occasions any more: when I'm either alone, or I'm with somebody.

I can always handle my alcohol. Others have had problems with it but not I.

What if you're with more than one other person? You're stuck as the DD?

I don't drink because I was a raging alcoholic, but I don't broadcast it. When I'm offered a drink, I just thank them for the offer, but tell them I'm the designated driver. No need to make people feel bad for trying to give me something.

"I can't have a drink because I used to be a raging alcoholic."
A few times, people have repeatedly offered me a drink and have told me that they won't want to take no as an answer. That's when I tell them that I was a raging alcoholic. This results in them trying to make awkward apologies. I tell them that they didn't do anything wrong, but they usually feel bad it anyway.

I always say, keep your feelings about politics, religion, and drinking to yourself.
You don't want to drink? Great! Don't tell me how I should handle my life!

Things I’ve Learned
1. You don’t have to drink to have fun
2. You have way less regrets
3. People will judge the shite out of you
4. You sleep so much better
5. You get less sad
6. You develop more empathy for others
7. You save so much money
8. You get tired earlier
9. You become amazingly productive
As someone who is ten years sober, I can say that all but #5 and # 6 are true.
I was never any more or less sad when I drank and I'm an a-hole who has never really had much empathy for others.

There are definitely some like that out there, but usually the way it goes for me is someone offers me a drink, I say no thank you and they either look offended or ask me why not. When my answer is "I don't drink" then they really look offended.

Sounds like he had a drinking problem among other problems. Good for him getting his life on track.
