Something happening to my little boy and no, i would not be here if so.

As someone who was involved peripherally with a lot of childrens oncology patients there’s nothing I wouldn’t rather face directed towards me if it could save my child from a long term painful terminal illness scenario.

It would sometimes destroy the child in slow motion, empty their parents savings, devastate the adults to the point of suicide and often break entire families from the trauma.

If anyone ever wants to help out Ronald McDonald house charities do great work for parents and siblings going through those scenarios.

Worked at a vet growing up and constantly deworming dogs and assisting with digging maggots out of dogs and cats stuck with me. Human parasites takes it to another level.

I always wondered if vets and vet techs regularly did parasite cleanses or preventative rounds with meds to prevent that from becoming an issue.

Losing everything I've built.

We all lose what we’ve built and our wealth eventually.

The old people who I knew who were terminal never worried about the wealth stuff laying waiting to die. It’s always some regret with regard to relationships or mistakes or how their family/spouse will get on without them.

Not telling you that’ll be the case for you or that it should eliminate your fears, but ultimately your stuff doesnt seem to mean as much when you get close to the end unless it’s a family business you feel obligated to pass on in good shape or something.

My greatest fear was always one of my children (and now grandchildren) being abducted and then never finding out what happened to them. Having to live every day of the rest of your life wondering if they were dead, or alive but being abused. I would go insane.

Second worst fear would be losing a child or grandchild to an accident or sickness.

Third worst fear is red wasps. frick those spawns of Satan. Stems from an incident that happened when I was a small child and 3 or 4 of those bastards flew up my shirt and stung me repeatedly.

Any words of advice would be appreciated.

I’m a veteran of multiple surgeries now.
Collarbone like you. In Jr. High School. It broke through compression in a football injury. Had a long stainless steel pin inserted to bring the ends together. Cartilage repair a few years later. Kidney stones removed. Gallstone removed. Gallbladder removed. Knee replacement. The management of patient sedation by the anesthesiologist is high order medical care. They know you and what will work best for you. Statistics are your friend. You are very safe. I would not be afraid or reluctant to share your fear with your team. They may very well provide you with some sort of prescription for anxiety that you could take prior to surgery.
Also, if you’re a person of faith, have your priest or pastor come visit with you prior to surgery. The medical team should not have any problems with prayer on your and their behalf.
Mrs. M and I will put you on our morning and evening prayer list until you share here how everything went.
Best wishes.
M

Falling off of a roof. Saw a guy die falling off of a roof in college. Ever since then, I just avoid going up there unless I have to. I had to go up on the roof to spray wasps nests last year. My wife said she has never seen me so scared before and we have been through some shite.

Something happening to my wife and/or daughter. Just the thought of it crushes me.

Also I don't want to die by slow crushing or being burned alive.

Has to be dying in a fire. Being burned alive has to be the most painful way to go.

That I'm not going to make it through this life without having to kill someone (in self defense of course).
