I would always be thinking is my dog healthy and happy? I'd be in the dumps for a while

My cousin only lived like 30 minutes from me at the time. I was able to visit whenever I wanted. But yes, the day he picked them up I cried for hours.

My fiancé and I got our first dog about a year ago. I wouldn't give her up under any circumstance. I can't believe people do this

Have a kid that's highly allergic and you'll toss the pet quickly.

Every situation is different, one of my good friends was over at my house recently asking if I wanted his dog. He's one of 12 people worldwide that were invited to attend an art school in Italy for two years. This school is taught by a few descendants of DaVinci so it's not something you pass up. Obviously giving up his dog is bigger in terms of his life plan.

that has to be quite the burden

I've never had another pet of my own. Guess I would be worried someone would take it away like they did with Buckshot. Just realized losing Buckshot may be why I've never married either. Am I as screwed up as Matt Damon was in Good Will Hunting?

I had a dog who was my favorite dog ever, born with three legs hand fed her till she could hop around. Few yrs later we had a kid and the dog growled at her every time she was around. Nobody would take her cuz she wouldn't hop on hardwood or tile only carpet, would not send her to a pound. After a few weeks had no choice but to put her down. Still miss her till this day.

What if you got it from a kill shelter? You're only bringing it home?

shite happens. I'm pretty sure my ex had to get rid of a dog at one point...and she's the most loving person I've ever met when it comes to animals. She thinks she's an animal whisperer

Anyways, it's not always feasible to keep them.

My friend killed his (smallish) dog after it bit my toddler daughter in the face. We weren't offended or bothered or traumatized. I didn't expect anything to be done nor knew about it until after, but I'd say a dog who bites visitors is an acceptable reason to get rid of one.

A dog that bites children needs to be put down imo.

Damn, I bet that was a shitty situation. Especially if the dog had never shown signs of being violent before then

Sent my dog away for 4 months of school. Am I a piece of shite or am I good to go?

If it's purely out of anger, than yes. Some dogs get a little toothy when they play and I could understand a harmless bite, although it still shouldn't happen.

You're just lazy for not training your own dog
