You seriously gonna cuss out a nurse that is just doing her job? Technically...I can have a parent kicked off hospital property by security and banned from coming back if they get hostile with staff.

Because it's full of nonsense. Much of which we don't have on the OB. And site traffic

How does a defense gun thread go 14 pages on the OT? This doesn't even happen on the OB
most of the city folks in this thread have Glocks and therefore are shamed away from going to the OB

You would be wrong, the Glock is the official pistol of the OB. King Ranch and his 1911 figs are just trying to take over. Their efforts are futile.

work, when we admit our kids, one of the questions we ask the parents is if they own a gun and how it's stored(just part of a bunch of safety questions we ask). From the accidental shootings I've seen(that didn't kill the child and they ended up a patient) I've learned to NEVER underestimate a child's curiosity.
I would decline to answer that ridiculous question.

BB Gun, I let my kid carry it around in the street in my cul-de-sac during the day

It's really harmless questions, but I would only answer yea I've got one, in a safe. No reason for any more detail

Then don't....it will be noted in child's chart that you refused to answer and the nurse will contine asking admission questions so she can finish admitting your child to the hospital and go tend to her other patients. No need to get ugly with the nurse that is just required to ask. She's just doing her job.

I doubt they care to know any more than that anyway

And that's all we need. We click yes in computer and type"stored in safe" and go on to next question on profile asking if child rides a bike and wears a helmet.

Helmet while wearing a bike and guns in a safe? How did we ever survive our childhoods? The next few generations will need helmets to tie their shoes.

People get touchy with guns. Responsible people don't think about how many poor/uneducated patients come through that might have loaded guns stashed in dumb places and that it really is just to help prevent accidents for those patients.

Yea. Very defensive.
I'm taking my old man's attitude towards them.

My dad never had shite locked up. His stayed on a rack in his closet with the ammo somewhere separate, and even as a 12 year old we knew we didn't go in dad's closet. Our guns he bought us just had a trigger lock on it, once I got to 14 or 15 or so he let me know where the key was so I could get mine to hunt if he wasn't home, same with younger brothers as they got responsible enough.
