Dark Brown.

My Coppertop French Maran hens lay chocolate brown eggs at times. Hershey Bar tones.

Did you know that the coloration is not in the shell. The darkness is a mucous like coating released in the ovum of the chicken. Think varnish.

Don’t care, but I buy the brown organic ones at Costco because the shell is thicker, not because they are organic. I just don’t like a thin-shelled egg and their white shells are paper thin.
