What Is Your Breaking Point for Doing “Business” in Orleans Parish?
When it became clear that the DA isn't really doing their job, and the local judges aren't much better.
This is a failed experiment. Time to go back to the Giuliani era SDNY practices of law enforcement.

New Orleans shits all over Baton Rouge when it comes to choices of restaurants.
At least until the tourism dollars dry up.....
New Orleans does have an excellent food scene for a city its size. Baton Rouge does too, but New Orleans is on another level entirely...arguably comparable to cities exponentially larger. They better not frick that up too like they did everything else.

Brother Martin just had their largest enrollment since pre Katrina I believe, so people are still sending kids.
I’d imagine Jesuit, Mt. Carmel, Dominican, etc are in similar positions.

Die hard New Orleanians, including big money ones, are already infiltrating out.
Locals that enjoyed to visit and do business in Nola are already staying away.
The schools aren't feeling anything just yet and, hopefully, they don't.
I don't think tourism has been impacted much by the crime. Out of towners that I've spoken with are either oblivious to or rationalize the state of affairs.
It really is sad.

Don't feel too bad. It's starting to happen in New York and San Francisco too.
New Orleans made a lot of the wrong decisions 50 years ago that lead us to this point now. There isn't a politically correct way to right the ship right now. We have to wait for some other city to pioneer a fix and then replicate it here faster than Atlanta or Houston can.

They had a chance to fix after Katrina but NO decided to continue to be NO.

I hear you. I am very curious how long folks will put up with the Nola BS and still send their kids to school there especially when you don’t have to put up with any of the BS a couple miles down the road.
The catholic schools in JP are trash. Anyone who cares about their kids’ education are not going to send them to Rummel or Chapelle. Jesuit and Dominican, as long as it’s within commuting distance, will still have plenty of willing students.

just be careful what you wished for.
The city is getting exactly what it deserves. For decades, residents stuck their heads in the sand and defending it beyond all criticisms. Never truly embraced change and never acknowledged concerns people had.

I am picturing you saying this with your nose sticking straight up in the air and your pinky extended as you drink your Dixie beer.

Just so you know Dominican is buying in to some of this craziness (the barely are acknowledging one of their graduates is a SUPREME COURT JUSTICE). Just should be aware when sending your kids for their Catholic Education.

Had a guy I REALLY wanted to see that does not come near the Southeast (Colter Wall).
He canceled (because of how batshit stupid Canada is over the Kung Flu) and I wasn't even mad. Just shrugged and took solace in not putting myself and my wife in mortal danger at night in NOLA.
Neighbor's buddy just got carjacked at 10 in the morning.

Even a lot of diehards admit that the city may not exist at some point in the foreseeable future. And it has nothing to do with crime.
Not sure about that, but it will cost a fortune to keep the city protected. And they need some competence in the city to handle issues on their own, and that doesn't seem to exist.
Let's assume that Amazon HQ2 moved to New Orleans and took over the old Navy property on Poland. Or a few blocks in the Warehouse district. There's no way to grow the city but up, or sprawl to the north.

JP is larger than Orleans. St. Tammany is going on 300,000 residents. No one could describe those areas as economically dynamic.
They make the New Orleans area more competitive though. At least until the people in those suburban areas avoid going to the city.

My company still does work down there but I haven't personally been there in over a year. And even then it was just for Pels/Saints games.
Other than that, I'd already been avoiding NOLA for well over 2 or 3 years. My absolute, forever break point for going there for anything whatsoever was when that 701 release story broke.
I wouldn't go there for anything right now. It's like Mogadishu. No thanks.

I ask myself this everyday. It will mostly likely be when my wife, my kids, or I am caught in the crossfire. I will pack my shite and never look back.
