I once walked off the job in the middle of the night on Christmas eve on an oil rig after dispute with my assholish supervisor. Caught the exchange boat and hauled arse.

Panama City. On the balcony, hard cement, sunburned and the hot air of the A/C blowing on me all night.
Next day, the guy driving decides to pull over and take a nap. I was drunk, tired and passed out. Very sobering to wake up in a truck surrounded by pine trees. I literally thought he ran off the road and I was dead.

Ramadi Iraq. 17 days with a combined 38 hrs of sleep. Worst time of my life.
Mine was the invasion in 03. Pushing north for two weeks straight, on an hour or two a night, sleeping on the ground. The sandstorm was the worst, you had to pry your eyelashes apart with your fingers when you woke up, due to the dust gumming up in your eyes. One time, a guy asked me for a dip because I had so much dirt in my teeth he thought I was dipping.
Second worse was in a foxhole at Ft. Benning during a thunderstorm. Spent all night trying to bail water with my canteen cup, but it still came up to my waste.

quote:back in the gap before the new central booking building when you were booked through the old HOD basement was living hell on earth if there was a such thing. They would literally cram you in a cell, so tight that everyone was squeezed shoulder to shoulder. Literally probably 80 people in a 15x18 cell. This is grown men. And you would stand in the same spot for sometimes 24 hours at a time without even being able to have room to sit on the concrete. On top of that there would be one toilet in there that was overflowed and literally 3 inches of shite water you were in... fricking hell on earth

1) Cold wet floor, with nothing between me and the floor, at an army base base in Honduous shortly after hurricane Mitch (which set that country back 100 years) no power or clean water. On a mission and had to rest. only place to bed down/ shelter
2) cemetery in Nola wasted and lost during college days. Was the safest place for me to be.

As a kid:
Remote camping at Lock #2 on the Pearl River when we pitched the tent with the door facing uphill in December and a wet front came through and soaked everything and then the temperature dropped into the 40s.
As an Adult:
August 31, 2005 in Waveland parked in front of what was left of the house with a 1911 and very little fuel as companions.
Honorable Mention: Mid '80s working on a tugboat. Many bad nights.
