What is the sales pitch for meth

It really is crazy that people do this drug. I started a thread a while back about my brother who's addicted to meth. I've seen him disintegrate from a 6'1 200lb fitness person to a 100 pound toothpick. He stays up for a week straight and then crashes for a minimum of 2 days. He lives an insane life. I don't get it either.

In fact, the 1st step in a 12 step program is to surrender the idea of will power. You are required to give up control. Your will power isn't enough.

According to many of you, this is impossible for addicts. They cannot make a choice to give up control. So throw out the 12 step approach.

Yes. He's actually been arrested a couple times recently and put into a mandatory drug program so he doesn't go back in. It's not helping any thou

Then I agree with you, if you're saying that you always have and had choices to get sober.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. The hardest thing is seeing what it's done to my parents. My dad, in particular, is a shade of his former self. It's just destroyed him (he was extremely close with him)

Haha im a heroin addict and an alcoholic, not a scholar. Thats really what i was trying to say the entire time. Its a difficult thing to understand, much less explain. I still struggle with the idea to this day. But understanding that i think differently in regards to drugs and alcohol is what i need to do the things to gain that choice back.

Ugh. That kills me to hear.

If you don't mind me asking, how did it all start?

"The program isnt for people who want it or people who need it. Its for people that do it."

Prayers your brother makes it this side sooner rather than later

I'm glad to hear you're on the path to sobriety. I know it's not easy at all, and respect what you're doing more than you know.

AA usually works best for those who have issues outside of addiction that help enable that addiction.

I never said there weren't choices involved, but once you get to a certain point (if you are truly an addict) the you lose the power until you do one thing, and I that thing is to admit and truly believe that you have no choice, then you can begin to dig yourself out of the hole.

He was a very popular kid, star football player at his high school. He never really hung out with his jock buddies thou, he was always hanging around the party people. He says he was given meth at parties, one time turned into two, and the rest is history. It really does grab you quickly if you're not careful.
