What is the point of paid administrative leave

You're still getting paid. And you don't have to work. Are you not getting other benefits? Why is being on paid administrative leave a bad thing other than your company is too much of a pussy to fire you? Or they are going to fire you and they're giving you a chance to start looking at their expense.

It’s a nice way to say, you’re going to get canned...eventually.

Fuuuuuuck the floodgates are open.

Because it doesn't look like they are firing you without due process.

SEriously, it gives a chance for the employer to fully verify the validity of accusations.
Every once in a while, the accusations turn out to be false, such as the case of the Duke Lacrosse players.

Covering their arse. Making sure they are justified in firing you.
Or, making it look like they’re investigating but they’re really checking to see if they can sweep it under the rug somehow.

tOSU won’t fire him outright until their lawyers can figure out a way out of his buyout.
That’s all this is about at this time.

It allows the employer to take their time and fully conform to the termination clause in the contract.

It’s code for “we’ve already decided to fire you, we’re just working on the exit strategy.

Are you retarded? What a dumb question.

Wouldn't it be better to put them on unpaid leave though? Kinda ducking but that's the most sensible thing

Why in the world do you think that makes more sense? Serious question.

Seems like “lying to the administration” would be an easy way out of the contract

Because you as a company aren't paying a bad employee not to work

This. Plus it allows the grand poobahs to say they took action first as a precautionary measure in case the accusation is justified.

If a company is looking into wrong doing on the employees part, they can’t yet fire them or suspend without pay. They certainly can’t keep them working knowing there are allegations about wrong doing.
Administrations absolutely hate it. They have to pay someone to be off that they may eventually fire.
