What is the message of changing your profile pic to one of your wearing a mask?

Is changing your profile pic of your wearing a mask a sign of concern for those affected by the Covid19, a sign of your political party affiliation, or something else?
Just curious.
I've seen a few do this out of respect for those that are concerned for health care workers, etc.
But, I notice Joe Biden has a mask on of his Twitter profile pic.

They just want to be part of something bigger than they are because they are obviously missing something important in their lives. Filling the hole with being part of the big deal right now gives them purpose.
