That dude totally brought that brisket home
He was serious about throwing it in the dumpster.

We had to purchase our own uniform for work with my last job. Friend of mine used to buy $75 pants from Academy, wear them for 6 months until they were getting faded, and then return them. He’d roll them up in an Academy bag and go to a different Academy store, and walk in and say they were the wrong size and he was doing a quick exchange. He did that like 4-5 times.

For a while I checked my power meter daily. If I exceeded the daily allotment, I'd turn everything off that I could (e.g. I couldn't turn the refrigerator off and let what little food there was spoil) and stay there in the dark or light candles.
These days you can automate this
I yelled at a college roommate for turning a light on while we played Sega Genesis. He said, "the electric bill is only $20".
I replied, "frick you. If we use half that much electricity, then it is only $10".
He turned the light back off. We would do anything to pay for another night downtown.

Must be really cheap.
I think Schaefer was $1.89 for a six-pack. I didn't mind the taste, either, but it only had about 80% of the alcohol in Budweiser.

I used to take toilet paper rolls from the CCs on Jefferson Hwy in BR. Saved tens of dollars that way.

My dad and his friend would go to a diner separately and sit next to each other. One had a full meal and the other coffee. Whichever had the full meal would take the check for coffee to the front, pay and leave. The other would wait a while and then complain to the waitress about having the wrong check. He'd get a new check for coffee and pay and leave.
They'd meet up and go to another diner so the other could eat.
Happened in St. Louis when times were tight

Playing playground ball in the 80s, my mom would give me a quarter to call home when I was done with practice. I would let it ring once and hang up. She new it was time
I used the call collect method....I say my name, moms knew I was done and rejected the call.

I was in high school in the mid to late 80’s back when McDonald’s became socially conscious about the dangers of breast cancer. As a joke, my friends and I would go through the drive thru and order a complimentary cup of ice water, a free breast self examination guide and a moist towelette.

There is a difference between theft and thrift and some of the stories don't seem to know the difference.

This is probably more common than I think but I’ve been recycling ziploc bags for years.

I would ask for an extra packet of hot sauce with my Taco Bell order even though they initially gave me enough to sufficiently cover my tacos.

At LSU my roommate and I forgot to pay the electric bill at our apartment complex one time. We solved this small nighttime inconvenience by running an extension cord to an outlet in the hallway next to our entry door - in order to play video games and give ourselves some light.
Pretty dang clever. Did you remove the evidence by morning?

We might have a winner here. There are layers to this cheapness.
That triggered a memory from 21 yrs ago. Theaters in Dallas area had refill stations for drinks.
I'd grab an empty drink cup from the trash and refill it for myself.
Same concept just nastier.

My future ex wife would get fricking livid with me but I didn't care. Drinks were like $3 back then. frick that.

I don't understand...I have to ask 3 times to get enough sauce to cover my tacos...it's like the shite comes out of their check

The summer after high school I stopped to grab a 6 pack of Abita Amber at a local gas station that sold a lot of singles and the new girl behind the counter would scan the bottle instead of the carrier so the whole 6 pack rang up around $1.29. I got back in my truck and decided to push my luck. I grabbed every 6 pack of Amber and a few others and bought around 20 6 packs for $30.
She was not there the next day.
Somewhat the same situation happened at Mathernes about a year ago, but it was a pricing error. This time I told the cashier who informed the manager. I’m not gonna lie and say I wasn’t tempted to do the same thing I did 15 years ago.

In college we used to hit up great wall buffet to go. Before they weighed it at checkout.
I have a very good system, packing the box with meat and egg rolls, while filling the gaps with fried rice. Sort of like packing sand and pea gravel between rocks. The end result is a solid block of food in the shape of a to-go box.
I thought I was the master at this until I saw a woman trump my hand. She was using a similar system, and packing her to-go box solid, but she was also eating as she browsed the buffet. I watched her eat a full lunch on her feet, while packing at least three to four meals in that to-go box. She left full and didn't touch the to-go box until her next meal.
I was tempted to ask for her autograph.

Not me, but had a few friends that worked at a higher end establishment. They introduced me to the concept of not wasting food from a table they bused. If the customer was a woman that they would 100% kiss if given the chance, they would finish her half eaten crab claws/ steak in the kitchen. This led to a horrible night that I have tried to forget for 15 years. Got stupid drunk at a marina while delivering a boat along the coast with one of these guys. Marina finally closed, we ran out of smokes, and dug through the damn ashtray for half smoked cig butts (only the ones with lipstick on them, using the prior logic) to finish off. Not my proudest moment.
