I don't dispute that but her family are financially secure and work for a very large international corporation. Demographics had nothing to do with our relationship. We are an interracial couple and funny enough she really disliked whites before she met me.
You're right tho. In most third world countries you can pick up a scrub every single day of the week if you wanted to.

the term third world often misused here, but you can pick up an OT 10 in most of these countries, their family will still despise you, and are all the time secretly plotting to get green cards and steal your money

Spot on and I know more than one expat who has fallen into the trap.
Worst story I know about is a guy from Texas got sent on an overseas hitch to Thailand. Wife and 2 kids back home in Texas. Thailand snagged him and he just never went home. Just went off the radar in Bangkok with no warning whatsoever to his family in TX.

When I was 37 a buddy's wife set me up with her 23 year old niece. My friend and his wife invited me over for dinner. I get over there and find out dinner is with the 23 year old, her mom, her step dad and another of my friend's wife's sisters. They all know I'm there to meet this girl. I realize it during dinner. She walked out to the car with me when I left so I asked her out. We dated for around four months.
