Of course it is. I never have to return to Louisiana. Except maybe for family funerals...if I feel like it.

My dad was completely broken from the flood. Losing his home twice in an 8 year span at his age...yeah he was a goner mentally. Even if they stayed...he would never have been the same. At least now I can help take care of them here and not have to waste money on trips back and forth to LA. No way my mom could have navigated the mental health system on her own back in LA..cause my dad's anxiety was always there...the flood just blew it up to horribly unhealthy levels.

And my mom and younger siblings...LOVE it out here. They love getting to see me now more than once every couple of years.

Half right, but I do appreciate that you recognize that I have a reason to care.

You’re just homesick, you’re not bitter like some people.

The only thing I like bitter are my IPAs.

All of my inlaws and several of my friends tease me that I'm from there. People out here in general do NOT have a positive view on Louisiana. They look down on the state(as they should). The only positive thing they say is "Oh well New Orleans looks like a fun place to visit sometime though".

Strange. I've lived on the west coast for nearly 20 years and never had this experience even once. Quite the opposite, actually. Louisiana is exotic by American standards and if anything people are really curious.

PS I know I've brought this up with you before but Arizona fares pretty horribly in quality of life comparisons with most of the US. Better than Louisiana? Sure. But still bringing up the rear really

I love me some IPA’s.

Next time you come down, all the IPA’s on me.

It's just strange that you spend 99% of your time on a Louisiana based message board when you’ve only lived in a 1% portion of the state a small fraction of your life.

You literally know nothing about the state yet you have such a strong opinion that you feel like you constantly have to express.

It’s weird.

Nothing accurate, mathematically sound or factually based... It's amazing.

I have no reason to care.

I may be a product of this state...but I had the good sense to escape a sinking ship.

My husband and I will likely move out of AZ one day...but not until after my parents pass away. I promised him that me relocating them here wouldn't take that potential option away from him.

Deal.

Of course, if you really like IPAs, there’s just a couple breweries in my area that are half decent...

You need to explain to you friends and in laws that you’re not from Louisiana, you’re from North Baton Rouge, and then explain the difference so they understand.

It does but Port has some solid options.

I only drink Bud Light and Vodka at Henry’s.

That's why we would only stay in PHX metro area. Best option for better quality of life in AZ. Especially in Scottsdale(one of the top growing areas for jobs actually..more and more companies building corporate locations here).

But yeah...AZ is far from perfect. But it suits me for the time being. But yeah..my husband and I have talked of moving away later on in life. Northern California or Oregon or maybe Utah.

This has ben similar to my experiences meeting people all across US and even the world to an extent. I would think if people look down on Louisiana that it is more of a reflection of the individual they meet representing that specific area as opposed to the area as a whole. IMO

I bought a house at the right time in California so I'll probably leave when I'm dead. I had an offer to go in on property in Texas and the idea just seemed laughable...

If you can find a home on the west coast you probably won't want to leave
