Not from here just recently moved and family decided to live in the Destrehan/Luling/Hahnville area because of the schools and when we drove around the area looked fairly nice and not to many run down areas.

Time may show me differently IDK

God, I’m retarded. I’ve been there several times. They did the cape last week. Salisbury this week and a couple days in Maine. I’m jealous. It’s gotta be awesome up there right now.

I’ve lived in BR, SHREVEPORT, Lafayette. Have family on northshore.

Currently in Broussard/Lafayette. Love it here but wife cant get a good job, she’s an OBGYN.

If we went anywhere else it would be the north shore somewhere.

I loathe BR outside of going to LSU. SHREVEPORT is boring unless you want to raise many children and go to church. NOLA is to different for my taste.

Far as LSU in Lafayette . It’s mostly an LSU town, or fans of both LSU and UL. UL diehards are just the loud squeaky wheel, like liberals.

I know some people that moved to North Carolina and Tennessee and love it over there

That's probably up my alley Paul but I've got a kid in middle school and parents approaching 70. It's not all about me at this point. I'd like to retire somewhere cooler.

Luckily I had my only child in my 20s so I'll be 46 when she's done with school. I'd prefer to raise her around her grandparents until then. Hard to place a dollar amount on that.

Funny that you have such a strong opinion on this subject being that the only place in Louisiana that you’ve ever lived was North Baton Rouge.

I grew up in NBR. That doesn't mean I only lived in NBR.

I mean...I lived in BR for 28 years(minus a semester at NLU in Monroe). I moved out my parents house at 18. You seriously think I voluntarily spent those other 10 years in NBR?

I figured you were smarter than that.

In all seriousness, the best place IMO is Mandeville. No ghetto, clean, good schools, good proximity to NOLA and BR for LSU games, mostly white working/upper class and it seems like a very safe place. People will have negative opinions but I’ve been all over the state and Mandeville is the only place I’d picture myself living forever.

I love Mandeville but the Mandeville was so much better until about 2-3 decades ago. But still my heart is there, 5 generations deep.

I love Pointe Coupee Parish too.

Head of Island and those areas with all the camps are great too.

It’s just strange that you spend 99% of your time on a Louisiana based message board when you’ve only lived in a 1% portion of the state a small fraction of your life.

You literally know nothing about the state yet you have such a strong opinion that you feel like you constantly have to express.

It’s weird.

I'm 40....28 years is hardly a "small fraction" of my life.

So...you have to live in all areas of Louisiana to have an opinion that the state overall sucks?

I sometimes don't even like telling people where I'm originally from. I don't want them thinking badly of me

All of my inlaws and several of my friends tease me that I'm from there. People out here in general do NOT have a positive view on Louisiana. They look down on the state(as they should). The only positive thing they say is "Oh well New Orleans looks like a fun place to visit sometime though".

That’s sad that you, your family members and friends only think of Bourbon Street and Tiger Stadium when they think of Louisiana.

You’re missing out on so much more.

I hope you eventually find the happiness you’re looking for.

Trust me...none of them really care about LSU or even know the name of the stadium. I mean...why would they?

Many of my friends and inlaws have commented on how much I really saved my family by moving them out of LA after the flood. I'm telling you...they think Louisiana is a total dump. I don't even bother telling them otherwise cause why bother? They are correct. They don't understand why anyone would ever want to live in Louisiana.

No matter how much time you’ve spent in LA, if you ever leave for any reason, TB08 assumes you know nothing and have no reason to ever care about the state.

You and your family are a product of this dump.

Therefore you’re trash.

That’s not true at all.

Although I know you left, I also know you still have roots here and I know you want and will return one day.
