I had some yellowjackets stinging me and my youngest when we were cutting the grass. I'm sure they get my dog back then, but he complained about very little.
Anyway, I found both entrances and they were just close enough to cover with 1 clear pyrex dish. I roasted them in the ground (with solar power
) and it was one of the most satisfying lawn and garden wins of my life.

Walk over it with a lawn mower.

Just show up to one of their games at Bobby Dodd stadium in Atlanta. That usually kills all of the yellow jackets

Make sure you can find the hole just after dark. Walk up to it, pour gasoline into hole (1 quart or until hole overflows). Walk away.

Gas but be warned sometimes they have two exits so pay attention

I have used a 10' piece of pvc with a 90 attached on one end. Slowly push the pvc to where the entrance to the nest is, put a funnel in the 90 and slowly pour some gas into the funnel. It doesnt take a lot, maybe a cup or so of gas.
This allows you to get the gas where it needs to go without killing all your grass. The distance is usually enough to keep you from getting stung.

Why are you trying to upset the balance of nature?

That was my first thought after I stopped laughing hysterically.

A couple rounds of gas and fire, then bury all the exits.
As an aside, yellowjackets can actually be used as a method of vengeance if you live next door to a couple of jackasses who let their jackass dog out in your yard.

Acephate dust applied near dusk. They'll be gone the next day. (Don't open it inside.)
