290, first frame 9/ then 11 X's in a row to end it. I think the spare on frame 1 took all the pressure off me for the rest of the game. I've started games off with 6 or 7 X's in a row and then the pressure got to me a bit.

I had a 290 with a 0/ and 11X. I was playing an extreme outside line and threw my first shot in the gutter.

First time I ever bowled, I bowled 276, and I was like. "Well this is freaking easy"
Since then I have never bowled more than about 125.

I bowled a 300 in '06 and also bowled for LSU's club team since they dont have a mens team due to Title IX.
As far as your question about the lanes, there are various oil patterns that are put on the lanes for each tournament but you have to have the same pattern on every lane. Now diring the course of the day the oil will "carry down" the lane the more balls are thrown. If you have a bunch of right handed bowlers on one lane then obviously the oil will start to spread thin if you have guys throwing around the same line.
When we would go to a tournament, we would decide the best line to take and try to stick to that so that the oil wasnt so heavy in one spot.
As far as the game being dirty, that only applies to tournaments that involve your handicap being added to the score. Now you cant have an established handicap without around 25 games or so. Thats really helped with people actually bowling what they typically bowl.

Wow, Didn't know LSU did away with men's bowling. When I was there it was scratch. We bowled the Louisiana schools and SEC schools except in tournaments. The scholarship schools like Wichita State and West Texas State were almost unbeatable

260 something. I've also bowled a 200 something game completely thru my legs. I used to bowl a lot when I was younger. Had a buddy who bowled a 300 in league play and then another 300 immediately after that just bowling with a bunch of us friends. He was damn good. I have yet to get the 300.

300 unsanctioned, 288 sanctioned. Had 10 in a row and left the 7-10 on the 11th shot that nailed the pocket. I was beyond pissed.
