Whatever brand of pipe tobacco and filter tubes the local tobacco store has is fine with me. The only reason I still smoke is because I can make my own for about $1 pack.

That actually sounds cool. Knowing nothing about this, is pipe tobacco higher quality than a mass produced cig brand?

Yep. The tabacco is always fresher and tastes more delicious too.

You won't want a mass produced cigg after you start to roll your own.

Same exact tobacco but it isn't ragged (broken down to smaller pieces). The difference is the rates at which pipe tobacco and cigarette tobacco are taxed, I forget the exact numbers but it's about ten to one. You either let the pipe tobacco dry out for a little before injecting or you can rag it yourself by hand or using a grinder.
